Cotopaxi Hike and Bike

Description:

Cotopaxi is one of the highest volcanoes in the world and the second highest in Ecuador, its height is 5897 meters above sea level. The almost perfect conical shape is an identifying mark that makes it famous. The landscape is extensive, wild, and has clean air.

Itinerary:

Departure from the city of Latacunga at 09:00 am. During the journey by private car, we arrived at the first station, "Caspi control", located at 3200 meters above sea level. After we register, we continue in the same vehicle to the "Mariscal Sucre" interpretation center. Site that we will visit for 30 minutes. At 3892 mosl. We will visit the Limpiopungo lagoon, "Clean place". Perfect place for acclimatization. Next, we travel in the vehicle to the parking lot located at 4500 meters above sea level. From the parking lot we begin the walk to the only refuge in Cotopaxi, José Rivas, located at 4800 meters above sea level. The ascent is approximately 1 hour. In suitable climatic conditions; You can continue on your way to the glaciers of the volcano. The descent is approximately 1 hour to the volcano parking lot, to later descend by bicycle to the town of "San Juan". 1:30 hours approx. by bike. After lunch, we return to the city of Latacunga.
