

Cumbre Cotopaxi
Description:
Cotopaxi is one of the highest volcanoes in the world and the second-highest in Ecuador, its height is 5,897 meters above sea level. The almost perfect conical shape is an identifying mark that makes it famous. The landscape of the Cotopaxi National Park is extensive, wild, and clean air.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Departure from the city of Latacunga (meeting point to be coordinated), at 01:00 pm. We move north along the Pan-American highway until we reach the "Control Caspi", our guide will proceed to register and then continue by car to the parking lot located at 4,600 meters above sea level. From the parking lot we start the walk with all the luggage, and in approximately 40 minutes to 1 hour, we arrive at the José Ribas Refuge located at 4,864 meters above sea level. We have our break time; dinner is served at 06:00 pm.
Day 2: We start at 0:00 hours (midnight); we prepare all our climbing equipment, hydrate ourselves with hot tea before leaving, and start our ascent at 01:00 am. Reaching the summit will take us from 6 to 8 hours (depending on the physical condition of each person). We walk through small sections of between 30° and 40°degrees of inclination. Upon reaching the summit we appreciate all the mountains in their maximum splendor, after taking photographs and videos we return to the José Rivas Refuge, which is approximately 2 hours of descent. Later on we pack all our things to return to the parking lot to our car and return to the city of Latacunga.

Waterproof equipment: jacket and pants, outer gloves, plastic boots for high mountains, crampons, gaiters, ice axe, climbing harness, sleeping bag (sleeping).
